Chapel in Lisdowney

Chapel

What is recorded here

According to Carrigan (1905, vol. 2, 335), the 'first chapel of which there is any tradition, stood about 60 perches [330m] from Lisdowney village, up the hill, on the road leading to Knockmannan. Its site is still pointed out in the "Priest's Garden," a field belonging to Patrick Holohan. This chapel continued in use down to about 1790'. This chapel is unlocated within the townland.
