Cerrig Poethion is a sea cliff composed primarily of Silurian greywacke and mudstone, formed around 440 to 420 million years ago during sedimentary deposition in a deep marine environment. The cliff is notable for its resistant rock formations that have withstood coastal erosion, contributing to the rugged character of the Welsh coastline.
