What is recorded here
One chamber, thirty-five centimetres deep in stone, waits beneath the Galway rath. Its narrow east entrance admits a single body at a time, forcing entry into darkness rather than invitation. The small wall recesses suggest shelves for tools, seeds or stolen heat, yet no hand has marked them since the survey.
Within the SW quadrant of a rath (GA104-258----). This well-preserved drystone-built Man-made underground passage consists of a rectangular chamber (L 3.5m; Wth 1.4m) running E-W. Access is gained at its E end. There are two small recesses in the side-walls: (a) in the S wall 1.1m from its W end; (b) in the N wall just inside the entrance. A linear depression, which may possibly be associated, runs to the NNW from the entrance. (McCaffrey 1952, 249, no. 17)
