In the rock beneath the north-west corner of Monasterboice, two narrow chambers still wait behind a closed passage. They measure fifteen feet long and barely wide enough for a person to stand upright, connected by a low tunnel that forces whoever enters to bend or crawl. The stone was cut with patience, not haste, and the shape suggests prayer, hiding, or both. What is certain is that the work required patience, and what is lost is the reason it was built.

Situated outside the NW corner of Monasterboice graveyard but within the inner ecclesiastical enclosure (LH021-062001-). It is described as consisting of two, largely rock-cut chambers each '15 feet by 4' 6 inches (c. 4.6m x c. 1.4m5)' connected by a passage '5 feet high (c. 1.5m)' according to Keenan (1945, 52). It is now inaccessible.
