Ballymaglancy Cave is a 726-metre underground river in County Galway where lesser horseshoe bats still fly through darkness that has never been fitted for tourists. The water cut the Carboniferous limestone into a long hidden chamber, and the family name preserved in the place still points to the human hand that first knew the route. What is missing is not the cave but the witness: someone must have walked past the entrance, listened to the water, and carried the shape of the dark home back into the village.
