Man-made underground passage

What is recorded here

Within a ringfort (GA005-053----). Described by Neary (1914, 120, no. 26) as 'an open Man-made underground passage, not tampered with, which tradition says extends a mile east'. Marked on 3rd ed. of OS 6-inch map (1930) in W half of the interior. No visible surface trace survives. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. II - North Galway'.
