Cave

Situated in the NE interior of a hut site (CL009-059052-). Indicated and named ‘Cave’ on the 1897 OS 25-inch plan and the 1920 ed. of the OS 6-inch map. Marked as a Man-made underground passage on Robinson’s map (1977). This Man-made underground passage (visible L 2.1m; Wth 1m; max. H 1.1m) is built in a gryke extending N-S in the exposed karst limestone pavement, and is covered by a large square roof-lintel (L 1.5m; Wth 1.5m). The N limit of the exposed Man-made underground passage (c. 1m S of the hut site’s N wall) is blocked by two large stones set upright into the gryke.
