Castlehill House Lodge stands as a small gabled survivor in Caithness, its coursed rubble and ashlar quoins marking the entrance to a house now erased from the landscape. Built during the 19th Century, it keeps the canted bay window and deep bracketed eaves that once framed a grander threshold. The lodge remains listed on a Buildings at Risk register, suggesting the quiet danger of decay rather than active ruin. It is a doorway without a destination, preserving the shape of a household that no longer answers the knock.
