What is recorded here
Lacken is an unclassified castle in Rathlackan, County Mayo, Ireland. It stands beside a church, though neither has a visible marker or agreed address. The name appears only in a written list, not on the land. What is missing is the shape of the room, the height of the wall, and the reason the castle was built.
This record is based on a reference in Neary (1913-14, 25) to ‘a castle (MA007-074001-) and church (MA007-074002-) at Lacken.’ The exact locations of the castle and the church are unknown.
