What is recorded here
Oldcastle is a castle with no walls, no gate and no shadow, yet people still point at the ground where it stood. That gesture is the whole monument now: a castle made of memory, repeated until it becomes real. Forgetting would be ordinary, but refusal to forget is a kind of magic.
According to Power (1908, 4) in the townland of Oldcastle 'The site (no remains) of the castle is still pointed out'. The exact location of this monument is unknown.
