What is recorded here
Lissatava holds an unclassified castle in County Mayo, deprived even of a descriptive label while other sites receive names and histories. The omission is not a small administrative failure but a visible absence: a building reduced to a pointer, its shape and purpose withheld from public view. That stubborn gap may preserve more than completion would, because invention becomes tempting when facts refuse to appear.
The Archaeological Survey of Ireland (ASI) is in the process of providing information on all monuments on The Historic Environment Viewer (HEV).
