Leastown in County Dublin may have hidden a castle, but the claim rests only on a vague memory of a stone-roofed house rather than a visible ruin. That uncertainty is the shape of the place: a castle large enough to leave a roof, but eluding the men who went looking for it.

In 1950 Hartnett mentioned a stone-roofed house which may have been the remains of a castle (NMI file 1950). No buildings fitting this description were located during a follow-up inspection of the townland by Wheeler in 1975 (OPW files). Not precisely located.
