Inane Castle stood on the west side of Ringarogy Island, but its walls and rooms have not survived to be judged. A later corn store may have swallowed part of the castle into its quay and sea wall, turning old defence into a boundary for grain. Whatever is buried there has stopped being a castle in the visible world, yet it may still be shaping the edge of the island.

According to Healy (1988, 199), Inane Castle was located 'on the west side of Ringarogy Island'. The site of the castle may be close to the late 18th/early 19th-century corn store (CO150-001----) and part of it may be incorporated into the quay and sea wall of the corn store (pers. comm.
