What is recorded here
Frankfort House may occupy the vanished castle site, though no castle feature remains visible in the finished building. The house stands in County Limerick with the old fort hidden beneath or beside its ordinary life. What is missing is not nothing; it is the part that stopped announcing itself.
A castle, probably in this townland, is mentioned in 16th and 17th century documents (Westropp 1906-7, 226) but its exact location has been lost. Frankfort House may stand on the site but there are no features of a castle in the present house.
