What is recorded here

Knockrunyn Castle vanished from the eastern edge of Elmpark Demesne in County Limerick, leaving behind only a gap where a building should stand. It appeared in 1583 and still touched Kilnakally in 1655, yet no wall, gate or room remains for a person to touch. The land may still hide its shape under grass, waiting for someone to walk the exact place and remember what the names forgot.
The precise location of Knockrunyn Castle in the townland of Elmpark Demesne has not been identified. Westropp (1906-07, 148) recorded the following details about Knockrunyn; 'The eastern part of Elm Park. Not marked. 1583 Knockrunyn C[astle]. 1655 It adjoined Kilnakally on the east. Stephen Roche held Clarine and Knockrinia in fee-simple (O.S., p. 22). Cnockrynine with Clare Iny held by Marg. Byrne, alias Stephenson (D.S.B., 26)'.
