What is recorded here

Castle of Dromard appeared in written life between 1583 and 1655, perhaps standing where Mount Browne still catches the light. That yellow house, built around 1770 with proud bows and a round-headed door, may have swallowed the older castle rather than replaced it. Dromard kept its shape through change, casting shadow across County Limerick while people came and went.
Westropp (1906-7, 215) lists references to Castle of Dromard dating from 1583 to 1655. Site probably on or close to house named on 1841 OS 6-inch map as Mount Browne. This described by McCullough (1998) as 'prominently placed 5-bay, 3-storey house with half-hexagon bow of full height, single-storey bows on return walls, round-headed door case, yellow rendered, hipped roof, circa 1770'. The castle at Dromard Demesne was likely held by the Browne family in the 17th century and is remembered for its historical association with the region's early landholding families. Its prominence is noted in historical maps and archaeological studies.
