Cloonmore still hides the castle named in a 1587 gift to Sir Francis Walshingham and Edward Denny, though no wall or gate has reappeared to mark the place. The old wording separates the castle from the lands and remembers a garden beside what was once John McAndrew's, as if residence and ownership had both changed hands before the stone vanished. People may have walked past a broken tower, a buried courtyard or a house reduced to soil, yet the name preserved the shape of what was lost.

The precise location of a possible castle in the townland of Cloonmore recorded in folklore collected from 'The Spa' School in Tralee has not been identified. Folklore collected in 1938 from 'The Spa' recorded that 'In 1587, Queen Elizabeth gave the following lands to Sir Francis Walshingham, and Edward Denny.
