What is recorded here
No castle has ever been found in Ballyhubbock Upper, yet the name still points to a missing tower. That absence is the shape of the place: a hole in the landscape where memory insists a building stood.
According to the OS Name Book (Donaghmore Parish 1838-40, 91), 'The site of a castle is pointed out in Upper Ballyhubbock … '.The monument has not been located.
