The terrier accompanying the parish map describes ‘Ballyfrunck’ as forfeited lands, with ‘Robert Forstall Ir[ish] P[apist]’ listed as the proprietor in 1640 (ibid.). The modern townland of Ballyfrunk appears to have shrunken, having originally included the later townland of Goldenfield to the N. Despite this it is likely that the castle was located roughly centrally along the N portion of the modern Ballyfrunk townland, though its precise location is unknown.
