What is recorded here
Castle in Ballybeggane may have belonged to the Croyne family, though little is known. The name still points to a building that shaped the land before it disappeared from memory. Whatever room or yard once stood there has returned to soil, leaving behind a address instead of a shape.
This townland may be the location of a castle belonging to the Croyne family of which very little is known (Westropp 1906-7, 227).
