What is recorded here
Castle is an unmarked tower house in Aghanvally, County Longford, visible only on an early 17th-century map of Moydow barony. It may have watched a road, a field or a forgotten boundary, but no exact spot has been recovered. The castle is not lost in the sense of being imagined; it is lost in the sense of waiting to be recognised.
Depicted as a tower house-type structure on an early 17th-century map of Moydow barony (BL, Cotton MS Augustus I.ii.28). Its precise location has not been identified.
