Castle

In pasture. Rectangular tower, constructed on plinth, at W end, of earlier medieval church (MA121-107001-). Ground-floor made use of church; upper floors more evenly coursed. Entrance on E through damaged doorway to ground floor chamber (5.8m N-S; 2.9m E-W). Chamber lighted by narrow windows and roofed by vaulted ceiling; containing square opening (0.7m X 0.7m) giving access to 1st- floor. 1st-floor contains small arched windows and corbels on E and W walls; mural stairs on N wall rises to 2nd-floor of which little remains. Built by Richard MacSheonin in mid 1500's (Neary 1938, 40). The above description has been derived from D.
