Dalkey Castle vanished before memory, leaving only a street corner and a name. Richard Walsh owned the fortress in 1641, but Robert Barry transformed it into Castle House around 1765, erasing its military purpose beneath domestic walls. The stones likely fed other buildings or crumbled into soil, denying later eyes the shape of its towers. What remains is a ghost in the town's layout, waiting for someone to imagine the guards, fires and conversations that once filled its chambers.

Situated at the corner of St. Patrick's Road and Castle Street, on the E side. Noted at the 'Castle (site of)'. The castle belonged to Richard Walsh in 1641. Known as 'Castle House' because it had been converted into a dwelling house by Robert Barry c. 1765 (Kelly 1952, 15 - 16). No visible surface trace remains.
