What is recorded here

Grenan castle vanished completely, leaving no ruin, mound or stone behind. It stood on the north bank of the River Nore, watched the water and disappeared. What remained was a gap in the landscape, a place where a building should have been but never appeared.

Reference to an old castle in ruins here on the N bank of the River Nore (O'Hanlon and O'Leary 1907, vol. 1, 308). No visible surface remains.
