Galbally Castle vanished completely after losing even its foundations by 1840, leaving no trace behind. It was mentioned briefly in a 1341 record, suggesting it stood for decades before disappearing without a mark. What remains is an empty space where a building once existed, now forgotten by the land itself.

Galbally Castle described in the Urban Survey of Limerick (Bradley et. al. 1989, 130-1) as following; 'The foundations of the castle could be seen in 1840 but were too defaced to be measured (Westropp 1906-7, 197) and while the site is marked on the O.S. map there is nothing to be seen now.
