Castle (in ruins), Annagh (kilbarron Par.) stands on a rock outcrop above Annagh Lake and Lough Derg, its broken walls still marking a old castle recorded in the Civil Survey (1654-6). John Hurly was listed as proprietor in 1640, and the surviving footings suggest a bawn wall once reached from the tower house before destruction took the far angle. The lakes below still give back light, while the rock holds the shape of a place that stopped being complete long before it stopped being seen.

Situated on rock outcrop on high ground in an upland area overlooking Annagh Lake to the SW and Lough Derg to the W. Described in the Civil Survey (1654-6) as an 'old castle the walls onely standing' (Simington 1934, vol. 2, 306). John Hurly is listed as proprietor in 1640 (ibid.).Wall-footings of a possible bawn wall (TN009-036003) project out from the SE angle of the tower house (TN009-036001) and return onto the destroyed NW angle.
