Castle Fogarty (in Ruins)

Situated in gently undulating terrain. A three-storey nineteenth-century gothic pile in ruins with features such as projecting corner towers, pseudo battlements, hood-mouldings and traceried windows. A family crest lies over the main door in the S end of the W wall. There is no evidence of an earlier structure. According to the OS Letters there was some disagreement among the local people as to whether there was originally a castle in this townland (O'Flanagan 1930, vol. 3, 95).
