Calton Craigs is a prominent sea cliff or coastal rock feature composed primarily of Old Red Sandstone, formed during the Devonian period around 400 to 360 million years ago. The rock was shaped by ancient river and delta systems and later exposed through erosion, making it a notable example of sedimentary formations in the Edinburgh area.
