Caledonian Canal, Torcastle Aqueduct

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Caledonian Canal, Torcastle Aqueduct as Aqueduct (19th Century). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 1m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

Built in the early 19th century as part of the Caledonian Canal project, the Torcastle Aqueduct was constructed under the supervision of engineer Thomas Telford. It is remembered as a key engineering feature that facilitated the canal's passage over the Torcastle Burn, reflecting the ambitious infrastructure developments of the Scottish Enlightenment.
