Crucalachta, a broad shallow dish of stone and sod on a narrow Mayo knoll, still catches the wind and invites people to sit inside its ancient edge. The knoll overlookes the surrounding pasture, yet a higher ridge to the south watches it back, as if the land kept a secret even from the marker. Its flattened top and scattered stones suggest a place for gathering, remembering or being seen, while local tradition gives it a name and identity.

In pasture, located on the narrow top of a knoll, with a steep fall of ground on the SW–W and a more gently slope to E. The knoll provides good views in all directions, but is overlooked by a ridge to S. A sod-covered, roughly circular, stony mound or cairn (diam. 10.5m; H 0.85m at E, 0.75m at W) with a rather flattened top. Stones protrude randomly from beneath the sod.
