What is recorded here
Cairn stands at the south end of a low ridge in County Leitrim, where a nine-metre stone mound hid a cremation bowl until 1934. Children from Drumeen School later recorded the discovery, preserving the moment when ordinary labour uncovered an ancient death. The stones may have marked a familiar path or a forgotten name, yet they still hold the heat of that lost life against the cold Irish sky.
Located towards the S end of a low N-S ridge. A stone-lined cist (LE033-049002-) containing a bowl food vessel with a cremation was discovered in 1934 during the removal of a cairn (diam. c. 9m) (NMI file). There is a detailed account of the discovery in the Schools Manuscripts from Drumeen School (IFC: Schools Collection, vol. 0220, 183-4).
