Cairn

Situated on a marked SW-facing slope to the S of an enclosure (WI006-001004-), and E of another cairn (WI006-001002-). Circular cairn (diam.12m; H 1.5 m) with a chamber (L 1.5m; H 1.2 m) to the S of the centre with a slab at the N side and drystone-walling to the E. Partly covered in peat. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Wicklow' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1997). A Neolithic cairn with a central chamber, likely dating to the Early to Middle Neolithic period (c. 3700–2500 BCE). Its location and construction suggest a ritual or funerary function, typical of Neolithic burial practices in the region.
