No map has ever marked the oval stone ring on the Mayo ridge, yet its dished interior and heavy western bank still define a small hidden chamber above the valley. People may have sheltered there or simply cleared wasted rock from nearby pasture. The ambiguity preserves the place because invention would occupy the vacancy left by measurement.

In pasture, located on top of a ridge, with a steep fall of ground into a valley immediately to NE. Good views generally; rising ground to NNW. This cairn is not indicated on any edition of the OS 6-inch maps. Oval grass-covered raised area (11m NNE–SSW; 8m WNW-ESE) defined on the perimeter by a stone bank. The stone bank (Wth c. 2.7-.3m; int. H 0.4m at E, 1m at W; ext. H 0.8m at E, 1.25m at W) is broad and compact, composed of close-packed small and medium-sized stones. It is noticeably higher on the W side. The breadth and height of the bank reduces the internal space (diam. 3-5m) and produces a distinctive concave or dished profile. Moss and low scrub covers most of the stone bank. The nature of this cairn is uncertain; it might be the remains of a hut site or it may simply be a field clearance heap.
