Carran Mountain still holds a broad circular cairn, thirteen and a half metres across and two metres high, marking a place old enough to have lost its exact purpose. Stones have spilled southward and others have disappeared, leaving an uneven surface that suggests the mountain is slowly giving the structure back. A small modern cairn sits at the centre, perhaps made by someone who climbed there, saw the broken circle and added their own stone before leaving.

In pasture, on a spur of rock on top of Carran Mountain. A roughly circular cairn (13.5m N-S; 12m E-W; H 2m) comprising stones of various shapes and sizes. The surface is uneven where stones have been removed. Some stones have spilled down the slope to the S. There is a small modern cairn at the centre.
