What is recorded here

Clearance cairns in Galway are human-made piles of stones removed from farmland. They mark the boundary between useful earth and discarded rock. People built them across centuries, shaping the landscape with repeated labour. The stones are not sacred in themselves, but they record the patience of those who cleared the land.
