Cairn

Cairn, clearance cairn

What is recorded here

Clearance cairn at Kye, County Roscommon. No unique human story or cultural meaning is supplied. The claim that it is a chambered tomb is not supported. It remains an ordinary marker on a farm boundary.
On a S-facing slope and inside the perimeter of rath (RO047-012001-) at NW. A semi-circular cairn is mentioned by Gannon (1972), but no longer survives. It is unlikely to be an antiquity. Also, given the undisturbed appearance of the site it is unlikely to have been removed and it may survive in the growth. Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 24 August 2010
