Situated in pasture to the NE of the Glencullen River. Access from laneway off the road W of Glencullen crossroads. It is a natural spring well. The OS Letters note its cure for stomach and bowel infections (Herity 2001, 14). According to Daly (1957, 22) it was also reputed to have specific qualities against the loss of butter by witchcraft, hence the name 'Butter Well'.
