Burnt mound in Sranalaghta South, Sranalaghta North is a low, irregular rise beside a natural spring named Tobernagawna on the 1922 OS map. Shattered stone and charcoal still show beneath the drain, suggesting people heated water there before the field took the mound back. Another burnt mound sits twenty metres away, as if the place repeated its own small fire in two voices.

In damp pasture, located adjacent to a natural spring, named ‘Tobernagawna’ on 1922 OS map. A low, irregular rise (diam. c. 6m), with an uneven sod and moss-covered surface, lies on the N side of a NNE-SSW field ditch/drain (D 0.4m). The mound is truncated on its S edge by the drain, and appears to incorporate upcast from the drain, making it difficult to determine its original plan and dimensions. A layer of shattered stone in a charcoal-rich matrix is visible at the base of both section faces of the drain. A low field bank, topped with a post and wire field fence, borders the N side of the field drain. Another burnt mound (MA038-187----) is 20m to SSE.
