Burnt mound in Ardgroom Outward

On the E bank of a small stream in an area of cutaway bog at the foot of Tooreennamna Mountain. A D-shaped grass-covered mound (5m E-W; straight W side: L 6m N-S; H 0.4m) of heat-shattered stones and charcoal-enriched soil. The surface of the mound is uneven. A field boundary wall (CO102-004004-) runs along the W bank of the stream. The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
