Mantling mound of clay, which sealed and contained cist and pit burials (ME033-028004-), added to passage-tomb (ME033-028001-). (Harntett 1957, 202, 254-7). The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Meath' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1987). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload: 10 July 2007
Passage tomb, dating to the Neolithic period (c. 3700–2500 BCE), associated with early megalithic burial traditions in Ireland. Its construction and use reflect the complex funerary practices and social organisation of Neolithic communities in the region.
