Burial in Grange (balrothery East By., Holmpatrick Ed)

Burial

What is recorded here

West of Dublin, three rectangular graves lie tucked toward the summit of a prominent hill. They face east and west like closed eyes, perhaps lined with stones that have long surrendered their edges to soil. The dead who entered them are nameless, but the shape of their resting place still holds the discipline of the people who made it.
Three burials were identified through test-excavation (Licence no. 06E0799) located southeast of burial (DU005-155----) towards the summit of a prominent hill. Aligned E-W the graves are rectangular in plan and possibly stone-lined (Frazer 2007, 26). Compiled by: Christine Baker Date of upload: 2 February 2015
