Burial in Ballynascarry (gore)

On a long N-S running ridge, under either tillage or grass. There is good local visibility. According to Carrigan (1905, vol. 2, 373-4), 'The Four Masters enter a battle fought here [on Graine Hill] between the Eoghanachta, a tribe seated in Cashel, and the Ossorians' in A.D. 891. He goes on to state that, 'Evidences of this battle, in the shape of human bones, have frequently come to light all over the top of the Hill, especially in the "Top of the Cross" field, where two large grave-pits full of human remains were come upon in 1890'.
