Burial

What is recorded here

Marianne and her twin brother were buried together in Ballymoon, County Carlow. They loved each other so much that they refused to leave one another, even when death came. They asked to be buried side by side, and they were. The earth kept their promise when human hands would have torn them apart.
The following description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Carlow' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1993). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 17 July 2007 Human bones discovered during quarrying about fifty years ago.
