What is recorded here
In a rath (MA109-017001-). This is the private burial ground of the Lynch family of the nearby Partry House (MA109-0). Opened in 1823 the graves lie in two rows, within low enclosures of cut stone, each distinguished by a small headstone, bearing simply the name of its occupant. In 1854 a large stone pyramidal column of four sides was erected near the centre of the rath. On each face and base are carved particulars as to those members of the family whose remains lie near, many of whom had careers in the army and public service. (Lavelle 1994, 26)
