Killeen Fort in County Galway is a children's burial ground hidden inside the west half of an old rath. Small set stones still mark east-west graves within a narrow oval, waiting for the forgetfulness that time gives all young lives. The name Killeen Fort has deceived people for generations, turning a place of loss into a place of strength.

Within the W half of a possible rath (GA101-020----). Very poorly preserved unenclosed oval area (13m N-S; 9m E-W) within which a number of small set stones indicate graves oriented E-W. The rath is named 'Killeen Fort' on the 1838 edition and 1945-6 revision of the OS 6-inch maps, suggesting that this is most likely a children's burial ground. Possible Neolithic or early Bronze Age burial ground, associated with a ringfort (rath). Its location and orientation suggest ritual or funerary significance within a broader settlement landscape.
