Stonetown Lower holds a burial ground locally called the graveyard field, where bones emerged beside the soil. The place belongs to County Louth, and its name still points to death before it points to living memory. People may have walked past it, feared it or buried their own there, but the field keeps that part unfinished.

The following description is derived from both the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Louth' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986) and the 'Archaeological Survey of County Louth' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1991). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
