What is recorded here

Seven headstones stand in Rougham, County Cork, but no living memory names the dead beneath them. The place keeps its own counsel, holding seven lives in darkness while the world above forgets.

Mac Cárthaigh (1980, 121) recorded, in the townland of Rougham, the placename 'Uaigheanna' meaning 'graves where there are seven headstones, but there is no local knowledge of those buried there'. The precise location of these graves is not known and it is possible that they are in that part of the townland which is on OS 6-inch map 104.
