Burial ground in Mishells

In pasture, on SE-facing slope. Pentagonal enclosure (c. 25m N-S; 27.5m E-W) defined by low earthen bank (max. H 0.6m). Low oval mound (6m N-S; 7m E-W) in NE quadrant. Field locally known as 'Paircin na Cille' (Ó Ríordáin 1932, 103). 'Mishells, under the name Midisel, is mentioned as a parish in a taxation list in 1199' (O'Donoghue 1986, 139).
