What is recorded here
Killeen holds a burial ground mentioned only in a 1904 book, absent from every map ever drawn there. That gap makes the place more vivid, not less: a church and its dead may have stood in plain sight while surveying instruments looked through them. Westropp’s claim does not need map proof to disturb the imagination. It suggests human life, loss and memory occupied the land before recording began.
Westropp (1904-5, 105) suggests there may be a church located in 'a burial-ground' in this townland but no burial ground or church is depicted on any edition of the OS maps in this place.
