Russian grave in Drombrow, County Cork: a burial ground reduced to a lone ash tree on a levelled bank line, with stones piled against the north field boundary that may have marked the dead. The name suggests something arriving from afar, perhaps a sailor, trader or soldier carried beyond the reach of home, though no written account survives to confirm it. The field has been grazed and altered until only the tree and scattered stones remain, yet the local name keeps the place charged, as if the ground still remembers what the surface has forgotten.

In pasture, on an E-facing slope. According to Myler (1998, 115-16), the site of a burial ground, known locally as the 'Russian grave' is marked by a lone ash tree which is on the line of a levelled 'bank'. Stones piled against the N field boundary of the field may have been grave-markers (ibid.).
